About the Real Alcázar

The Real Alcázar began life as a 10th-century fortress and grew, over the following centuries, into a royal palace built largely under Christian kings in the Mudéjar style — Islamic craftsmanship applied in the service of the Castilian crown. It's the oldest royal palace in Europe still in use today: the upper floors remain an official residence of the Spanish royal family whenever they visit Seville, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

What You'll See

Your guide will take you through the intricately carved halls of the Palacio de Don Pedro, including the Ambassadors' Hall with its gilded dome, before opening onto more than seven hectares of gardens — fountains, pavilions, and hidden courtyards that inspired centuries of Spanish palace design. Fans of Game of Thrones will recognize several corners of the palace and gardens, used as the Water Gardens of Dorne in seasons five and six.
